"Brooklyn based band Rumors may have only started in 2013, but they’re already making waves with their catchy, layered pop. Their newest single, “Be Easy” is a lush, swirling synth dream, complete with gorgeous harmonies and a killer bass line. It builds slowly, adding sinister synth layers on top of the lovely melody to create a singular mood." - The Wild Honey Pie
"Early in 2013 Rumors was founded by guitarist and lead vocalist John Paul Frank, keyboardist Liz Ryan, bassist Chris Bordeaux, despite their knowing each other in various capacities since they were teenagers. It is comforting to know the group has taken its time to be realized, allowing each member years to hone their skills. Thus their ability as a whole to produce a 7" which sounds like a precursor to their third fourth full length." - Inyourspeakers.com
Cascading Slopes (Record Release Show!)
Cameo Gallery's first ELECTRICAL NIGHT! An intimate evening of analog synthesizers, education, time travel and love. Also Cascading Slopes record release party. Vinyl and CD copies of "Towards a Quaker View of Synthesizers" by Cascading Slopes will be available for the first time, as well as Plastiq Musiq's New Music Horizons Vol. 1 compilation. Hang around afterwards for an old fashion electronic music dance party: Kraftwerk, early OMD and undancable music from the darkest corners of the Radiophonic Workshop.
In the silence that followed the disintegration of his prior band, and with little advance warning or fanfare, Shannon Fields (Stars Like Fleas founder/producer, Helado Negro-collaborator), released the debut Leverage Models record in October 2013. This ecstatic & unhinged, club-centric, kitchen-sink pop music has since been praised by Pitchfork, Other Music, BrooklynVegan, Spin Magazine, and others. These magical realist meditations on political action, family abuse and private pain are set to intricate, lush music that recalls and re-fashions the warped echoes of ABC, Scritti Politti, The Associates, Happy Mondays, Japan, A Certain Ratio, Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam, and contemporary R&B, and are realized live by an immensely polished, rhythm-heavy live band, and an immensely un-polished frontman willing to demolish his body and ego onstage in search of authentic, human connection with rooms full of other human beings.
Reputante is a band from NYC with James Levy, Jimmy Giannopoulos, Raviv Ullman and Emiliano Ortiz. Tim Wheeler (Ash) produced their debut EP, which will be released November 11th on Julian Casablancas' label, Cult Records.
"Reputante managed with Lock Me Up to sustain a beautiful packaged emotional song that sound like a lost gem of an already classic name! Beautiful and unexpectedly pleasant by its all means!!!" -- Sound Injections
"We're really starting to believe that post-punk inspired music is about to take over from all this hazy dreampop as the indie/alternative sound of choice very soon. The groundswell is palpable. New York band Reputante could well be key players. They've just signed to Cult Records and are offering you an excellent introductory track called 'Lock Me Up'" -- Sound of Confusion
