PBR Streetgang (Hot Creations, 2020 Vision, Future Boogie)
In the early days, PBR Streetgang sharpened their claws warming up at seminal English party Asylum in Leeds, before legendary acts like Theo Parrish and Prins Thomas took to the booth. Now the duo are headliners in their own right, spinning everywhere from Garden Festival in Croatia to Eastern Electrics in London and plenty of places all over Ibiza.
Known to their mothers as Tom Thorpe and Bonar Bradberry, the duo has a vast arsenal of disco, house and techno in their reserves when DJing, but so too when producing. Becoming increasingly prominent in recent years, their always-varied productions have come on labels like Hot Creations, 2020Vision and Bristol’s Futureboogie. For this week’s podcast we get taken deep into their world where cosmic disco seeps into ramshackle house, darker electro stylings sit next to warm and sunny house and more besides. It’s a great place to be.
R&B music is getting a facelift and singer-songwriter/musician, Mateo is the surgeon. Like his name states, "a gift from the Heavens", Mateo is lending his gift to alter the sound, image and passion behind the genre. The Ohio native, who is an alum of the prestigious Morehouse College, is leading a new era of artists with his distinct voice. Already sharing the stage with artists such as J. Holiday, Day26, Mario, and Erykah Badu and releasing the acclaimed Underneath The Sky Mixtape series, Mateo has proven he has the "it" factor. With Grammy Award winning producer Kerry "Krucial" Brothers at the helm of Mateo's major debut, it is only a matter of time before the world sings his praises.
During a nomadic childhood, Evan Michael experienced an array of music scenes across the nation that inspired his earliest music efforts. A summer abroad in Madrid, however, served as a catalyst for Evan's foray into club culture and electronic music.
After joining Boston's DJ circuit, Evan went on to settle in Brooklyn, where a rich and diverse underground community helped fuel his passion for creating original productions. As a promoter, nightlife curator of Cameo (one of the borough's beloved nightclubs) and editor of Brooklyn Bass, Evan is adept not only at understanding the music industry but also at constructing a proper dance floor gathering, as evidenced in his own sets and original productions.
Inspired by the sounds of retro disco, classic house and funk labels like Tabu, Dance Mania and Prelude, Evan is continuously driven to incorporate small elements of the past and molding them into new and interesting ways in his own work.
